The Amazon.com website features an elaborate customer feedback function for product reviews that serves as an excellent but often overlooked source of consumer information.
Between August 17, 2004 and August 12, 2005, thirty parents took the time to post a review on Amazon of their experience with the Baby Bjorn Carrier. Many reviewers identified themselves as a new mom with first hand experience with the Baby Bjorn Carrier, and many used what appears to be their actual name to identify themselves.
A glance at the date shows that the Baby Bjorn Carrier is an international phenomenon. Owner/reviewers came from New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, and almost everywhere in between. One reviewing mom hailed from as far away as Japan.
There was much consensus about the quality and value of the Baby Bjorn carrier. For example, many parents mentioned although it was a relatively expensive carrier, it was still well worth the money. A typical comment came from a Missouri mom who wrote, "I bought it and have told all of friends to defiantely [sic] spend the extra money on Baby Bjorn there is just no comparison."
And a Kansas reviewer identifying herself as "New Mommy," wrote, "Although a bit expensive, I would recommend [the Baby Bjorn] to anyone looking at a carrier."
